Coin Identifier is an AI-powered iOS app that instantly recognizes coins and estimates market value using image recognition and PCGS grading algorithms. With a single photo, users get coin name, year, mint, condition, and real-time price. Includes a collection manager for organizing personal portfolios — combining identification, valuation, and numismatic insights for collectors at every level.
How I built it
Project notesThe product needed to identify coins from a single photo, attach an authoritative grade and market value, and store the result in a personal collection — all reliable enough that hobbyist collectors would trust the valuation.
Integrated PCGS grading algorithms with the Numista reference database and an in-app image-recognition pipeline. Built a collection manager with offline cache, sortable filters, and per-coin history. Adapty handles the paywall; AppsFlyer + Amplitude cover acquisition and engagement analytics.
Shipped to the App Store with grading + valuation flow end-to-end. Reference data updates run independently of releases, so new coin additions don't require app updates.
